The Language Avenue has partnered with Peninsula Food Runners to help alleviate hunger and minimize food waste in the San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Peninsula Food Runners’ mission is to alleviate hunger and reduce waste by rescuing surplus food and giving it to people facing food insecurity. Every day, Peninsula Food Runners relays a wide variety of wonderfully prepared and fresh food to nonprofits that serve low-income residents and others in need in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. The organization has over 1200 volunteers who deliver surplus food to food assistance organizations, providing this free service to food donors and recipients. In 2024, the nonprofit rescued and delivered close to 4,000,000 meals, recovered over 5,000,000 pounds of food, and fed almost 80,000 community members.
